Georgia

“Georgia and I started our journey together as two very lost souls who just needed someone to make things ok again. It took us a bit but in no  time at all Georgia was coming to work with me as my service animal. Though she was small she sure had the biggest heart, and it didn't take long for everyone in the building, the clients and the surrounding business to take a shine to her. We were greeted everywhere we went some even keeping special snacks for her behind the counter. Clients loved her, we suddenly had more kids and seniors coming in. I have been told on more then one occasion that an  elderly parent who might struggle to leave their home were often waiting to be picked up on Georgia day. She received more cards, treats and presents than anyone one else. As sweet as she was if she thought someone might be unkind to me this tiny little angel in dog clothing would put herself in between that threat and me. My parents loved her. She loved her long walks with my day and spending her retirement days chasing sunbeams. She would start to pace check the windows and doors when she knew I was sopposed to be home not truly settling until she knew I was home safe. Georgia loved my nieces, she put up with being dressed up, make up done and constant "no my Georgia". My youngest niece would always ask to talk to Georgia during FaceTime calls. Georgia was my best friend my reason for getting better my mealtime helper, the only thing that could calm me down when things got to be to much. She would give hugs tuck herself close to my chest and lick away tears. And even in her very last moments she knew that we both need her as close to me as she could get. As I felt her tiny bt mighty heart beat for the last time I was overcome with sadness and loss and the feeling we all get when we lose a pet, the now what's. But there was also something too a feeling of gratefulness. I wasn't there for the beginning but I was there in the end. And just because she doesn't lay next to me in bed anymore or wait patiently for me to arrive she hasn't really left. She just patiently watching and waiting to greet me at the door when I get to see her sweet smiling face again. Until then my very best friend, thank you. I think you saved me more than I ever saved you.”
